Anthropic donates Agent Skills to the Agentic AI Foundation

ClaudeDevs announced that Anthropic is donating Agent Skills to the Agentic AI Foundation, where it previously donated MCP. The account said more than 70 agent platforms have integrated the standard since December 2025, including ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and VS Code.

ClaudeDevs said existing skills and licenses remain unchanged, and anyone can use or contribute to the standard without joining the foundation. Engineers from Anthropic, Earendil, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and OpenCode will form its Technical Steering Committee; bcherny said Agent Skills began as a Claude Code experiment before wider adoption.
